as advertised so far goodWorks very well when certain common sense best practices are followed. Clean the part thoroughly, that means basic and acid washes beforehand, rough up surface (I used 60 grit) where applicable. Once clean always hold part with hanger or clean non-powdered gloves, after first coat, the same precaution needs to be adhered to. Coats should be thin and consistent. Ideally I would not move forward to final color coats with anything less than two complete prime coats. Part of the reason I coated my exhaust is that I am moving to a winter salt state, soooooo yeah, coat it or watch it rust into oblivion. I tend to go overboard on everything, so the whole system has 4-6 coats of primer depending on location and base metal, with 1-3 curing cycles (where possible), prior to color coats. Coverage is actually pretty good. After the priming process I sanded again after curing but prior to final color coat. I used black, but I imagine most colors (which are in no way true to color expectations or vibrancy... this stuff isn't jet-hot) will hold up the same depending on application and part cleanliness throughout the process. If applied and cured properly I see no reason why flaking, delamination, or "chipping" should be too much of an issue within reason. I'm a year into this job and as of my last oil change, I was able to fully inspect my work and found none of the above. I am happy with the product so far and it worth noting, this is NOT a thermal coating, it is purely protective.... and i suppose aesthetic for some. Time consuming to do right, but if the purpose is to protect your investment, well, take the time and do it right. Can you just go to town on an exhaust part and throw it on the car? Sure. Will it be as durable? Probably not. Take all of this as you will.goes on good........Love the rust oleum products. Nice light coverage at your finger tips. This was used as a base coat on my Jeep calipers after replacing the 4 damaged ones.12 months later and the top coat of Rust-oleum Red still looks good . Primer is essential.I used this on my steel woodstove before painting it black. It was slightly rusty. I sanded well, and used the primer. It adhered well and covered beautifully. I have sine used the stove and the primer has caused no problems. Excellent to use, sprays well, covers well.I use this product to prime my brake calipers ( preparing the calipers is the most important using a drill and wire brush ) then applying 3 to 4 coats of this primer allowing dry time 15 minutes between each application and the result was beautifulI bought this to primer my brake calipers before painting. My calipers were relatively clean, and it would have been hard to spray them on my truck. I decided to clean the calipers with brake cleaner sprayer and wipe them with paint prep degreaser. Time will tell, but I think it was sufficient.EXCELLENT ITEM !!It works. Used it for my bikes silencer. And honestly so far it is not comming off. Most of the paints i used before got burnt up in a couple of days. This is really good. This primer is good! Very OVER PRICED on Amazon though. Found it at Lowe's for a third of the price but i had already used the can i bought on amazon. So far the finish and feel is good on the surface exposed to high heat temps. The matt finish gives u a sense of new ness on the surface. Waiting for longer period of usage.Thank you. Great productTrès bon produit et livraison rapideMerci !
