The Worx MAKERX Mini Heat Gun was made for embossing paper and cards, or drying painted or glued crafts quickly. It’s indispensable for projects where you need to warm up plastic or wood for shaping. It’s great for heating shrink plastic around a product for shipping, gifting, or selling, to give it that professionally packaged look. But it has so many uses around the home that everyone in the family will be glad it’s there. Thaw frozen door locks, valves, pumps and spigots. And it’ll heat old paint or adhesive, making it easy to remove. The slim design allows you to hold it like a marker when you need to heat an area directly, and makes it easier to move around the project. MAKERX has created crafting and hobby tools that are smaller, but more powerful—the secret lies in the Hub. It’s a power source that you can take with your tool, so if you want to work in the middle of a large space, you can, and still have the power to get the job done. Thoughtful design allowed Worx engineers to make these tools slimmer, so you can hold them with more precision, and provide a level of detail to your projects that’s not possible with other tools. This model doesn’t come with the MAKERX Hub or a 20V Power Share battery, but that’s by design. Because if you already have a Hub and a battery, there’s no need to buy it again. It’s a great way to save money as you build up your MAKERX tool collection.
[QUICK HEAT UP] Nearly instant warm up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. No waiting around for it to be hot enough like other heat guns
[NARROW FOCUS NOZZLE] Precisely control the location and direction of the heat. Perfect for small, detailed craft work
[SHARE BATTERIES, SAVE MONEY] Worx Power Share is compatible with all Worx 20v and 40v tools, outdoor power and lifestyle products
[MICRO-ERGONOMIC DESIGN] All MAKERX tools are specially designed to be compact, so they’re more comfortable to hold for long stretches, and are easier to maneuver
[PROP STAND] Built-in cradle holds the hot nozzle away from delicate work surfaces
[HUB + FLEX CORD] Every tool on the MAKERX platform is powered by the Hub and its rechargeable 20V Power Share battery (Hub and battery not included with this model). The Hub is the only portable 20V power system for hobby and crafting tools on the market
[FLEXIBLE POWER CORD] 4-foot long cord attachment allows for unencumbered movement when working
[GO-ANYWHERE CREATIVE TOOLS] MAKERX tools, and their power, go wherever you go—and they don’t need to be near an outlet to plug into
Update (3/20/21): Used the heat-gun and soldering iron to connect a 24/12v converter to a battery bank via a 4-port terminal block.Summary: I have had rotary tools long enough to remember when the first real accessory for a Dremel was the extension shaft. This is similar in that you have relocated the power source away from the part that you hold, resulting in a lightweight tool.Previously reviewed the WX739L Rotary only tool combo (there is video in the link below):https://www.amazon.com/review/R3HSAXMQJGSDVS/ref=pe_1098610_137716200_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rvObservations:1) To test the rotary grinder (Dremel equivalent), I used the included 3/4" cut-off wheel, and cut a 1" section off from a 3/32" thick curtain rod bracket. Additional detail in that review.2) Next I looked at the Angle Grinder. The 2" disc should be sufficient for most small tasks, and would excel at bolt/round stock cut off. I like that the motor is brushless, as that is then newest technology, which makes for more efficient and cooler running. You can really dial the speed down very slow, which I showed in the video.3) Lastly, I tried the soldering iron. Having soldered things just about my entire life, I was really looking forward to this; however, the temperature seems very low, relative to what the digital read out indicated. It does heat up quickly, and adjusts back down relatively quickly. I need to test this further, so for now I'm rating it fair. One thing to note, you'll probably need to increase the heat much higher than indicating.Recommendations:1) These systems of tools really makes economical sense when you have many of them. This MakerX combo has the rotary tool, angle grinder, and soldering iron, and they also offer an air brush. I'm sure they intend to release more tools. The 20v Power Share is also compatible with many Worx 20v tools also. The heat gun is the only one sold separately, not as part of any combo. I intend to buy the mini heat gun; the reviews are fair, not great, but I would much rather use a mini heat gun than a lighter to shrink heat wrap.2) For the angle grinder and soldering iron accessories, I used a 2-compartment Sistema container (link below), and added some foam to hold the bits from rattling around; I think it turned out really well. Drops right inside the bag, and all the little bits are there at your fingertips.Pros: Good fit & finish; brushless motor (rotary and angle grinder); 20v Power Share family of tools; includes a tool bag.Cons: A bunch of warning & caution stickers; soldering iron isn't super hot. Conclusion: At $170 for this set, I rate this 5-stars, and I would recommend this WX991L set over the smaller/lower cost offerings (like the rotary only for $100). Spend a little time to see which kit would be suit your needs and budget.Related Products:WORX WX992L 20V MAKERX 2Pc Combo Kit - Rotary Tool + Air Brush - $130https://www.amazon.com/WORX-WX992L-20V-MAKERX-Combo/dp/B08KFNF8MYWORX WX739L MAKERX Rotary Tool Kit - $95https://www.amazon.com/WORX-WX739L-MAKERX-Rotary-Tool/dp/B08KF1LKMQWORX WX743L.9 20V MAKERX Mini Heat Gun - Hub, Battery and Charger sold separately - $30https://www.amazon.com/WORX-WX743L-9-MAKERX-Mini-Heat/dp/B08KFMJTJVSistema 11.8 Ounce Small Split Storage Container (Colors may vary) - $6https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BQGS09A
