Had this thing on 24/7 for several week straight at a time raising baby chicks indoors last spring. It made it through two batches of chicks, so it was on for about 9 or 10 straight weeks total, and it hasn't burned out yet. So it works. Also, I like how this model does put out a little light compared to the ceramic infrared kind (which outputs heat only and zero light) because when raising chicks, you'll notice they like to be able to have a little light so they can see 24/7 in case they get hungry or thirsty in the middle of the night and need to find their way to the feeder. I switched to the ceramic infrared kind one day, and the chicks cried and cried that night for about an hour, so I switched the bulb back to this infrared incandescent one and they calmed back down.
