Make Your Space More Tropical with Confederate Jasmine Plants! If in the right location, confederate jasmine plants are easy to care for and low maintenance! There are two ways confederate (aka star) jasmine grows; upright as a trellis and as a groundcover. This plant will bloom flowers from late spring to summer that have a lovely sweet fragrance. The jasmine plant will grow quickly, however growth might be slower the first year as the plant is getting established. Confederate jasmine is perfect to use for privacy, trellises, or a fence cover. Your Guide to Confederate Jasmine Care Care: Low maintenance flowering vine. Light: Full sun to partial shade. For the best flowers, you will want lots of light (think 8 hours of sunlight a day). The more shade, the higher the reduction in blooms you will see. Water: Water your confederate jasmine plant regularly. Once a week is likely, however you may need to water more frequently depending on its location. We recommend watering when the top inch of soil is dry to the touch. Once established star jasmine is relatively drought resistant! Temperature: 60 to 75F is confederate jasmines preferred temperature range. It is somewhat cold hardy and can tolerate temperatures down to 10F. We recommend wintering indoors if you experience cold winters. Hardiness zones are 8 to 10.
