First of all, my review is for the Iconoclassic CD version released in December of 2012. Let's get THAT clear. Apparently, Amazon will put any old review of the album and it's NOT specific to the particular version of the album (that we all know, can vary widely). I have the BGO version that they edited Fried Hockey Boogie down from eleven minutes to less than seven minutes. THEY DO NOT DO THAT ON THE ICONOCLASSIC VERSION. OK, now that is clear. No real need to review the album. It's a stone(er) classic. I really owe my love of the blues to Canned Heat and Johnny Winter because as a young "Junior Groover" they exposed me to music I had not heard before. Not to many blues numbers on Monkees or Beatles albums. Anyway, if you need a copy of this album (and you do), THIS is the one to get. The sound is as you remember it from the vinyl. Clear 60's stereo channel separation and everything is mixed "in your face." The six bonus tracks were recorded in the early stages of the sessions. It would have been nice if they would have included the single mixes of "On The Road Again" and "Boogie Music", but you can't have everything in life. One last point, avoid like the plague the Magic (from France) versions of Canned Heat albums or ANY album for that matter. The discs denigrate in the cases to the point that they don't play anymore. I have a Magic version of "Hallelujah" that a nasty film on it as we speak. So anything by Magic: BEWARE!!
